Interest Group

A newspaper text analysis and stock trading game set in a fictional authoritarian state in the 1980s.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could fill out the playtest survey.

About the Game

Players must read daily newspaper articles from various media outlets, uncover hidden clues between the lines, and trade stocks accordingly.

From exaggerated reports and hidden cash flows behind figures to on-site reportage, each media outlet has its own interests and biases. Sometimes, a plausible article serves as a smokescreen to blind you, while a brief, obscure snippet in the corner points to the market's decisive direction.

Gauge the influence of each outlet, cross-reference keywords and nuances within the articles, and grow your wealth in a volatile stock market.

Key Features

  • Newspaper Text Analysis: Deduce the actual market situation by comparing articles from 3 to 6 media outlets, each with different editorial tones.
  • Stock Trading: Based on your text analysis, predict daily stock price fluctuations, take long or short positions, and sell at the right timing.
  • Fictional Setting and Events: Heavy, 80s-esque events such as media consolidation, political-business collusion, and industrial restructuring impact both the market and the headlines.
  • Media Outlet Analysis: The better the player grasps the influence of each outlet, the greater the profit they can make.

Development Notes & Inspiration

This game was heavily inspired by Banjiha Games' 〈Cold Case〉.
We reinterpreted the joy of reading text and gradually picturing the truth of events in your mind from 〈Cold Case〉 into a 'simulation of analyzing newspaper articles to grasp media influence dynamics and trade stocks.'
